Hi,
I've just began to double on numerous woodwinds for my concert band and wind ensemble at the request of my band director, though he's taken it a little overboard...
I'm playing a flute/piccolo for jazz ensemble, soprano clarinet/bass clarinet/tenor sax for pit orchestra, contralto or alto clars. for clarinet choir, oboe/bass clarinet for concert band, and flute/bass clarinet for wind ensemble. I'm also playing Violin I in concert orchestra, and Contrabass for symphonic orchestra.
Sound a little overboard? What do you think I should do? I COULD continue this way, though I'm looking for your opinions.

Hi,

Once you are over the first few hurdles (doubles), it gets much easier. Keep at it!

HRL

PS Wait until you get to the trombone. Now there's a really fun instrument.

Obviously the first thing to do is change your BBoard name.

Just be careful of when you have clarinet choir right before jazz ensemble. Contra-alto clarinet to piccolo, now THAT'S a fun transition.

If you have fun, continue. I don't see how it could harm you in itself. And be proud that you can play so many instruments to that degree! Side effects, like study time or late nights, might occur, but otherwise...

Hang on, how do you double flute and bass in a band?

Sounds like fun...perhaps painful. I, like William, would like to know how you double flute and bass in one band. I play B-flat and E-flat in the same band, and going from the B-flat to the eefer really kills.
