 just starting Eb

Hi... I am learning Eb, and kind of locked myself into playing a difficult orchestral part so I could use all of your help. I was surprised at how nice it sounded. I am having a bit of difficulty with the notes above the high C, they either don't really come out or they squeak. If I can get it right in the middle of those two the notes come out quite nice and relatively in tune, but that's not that often. I have a feeling it has something to do with my embouchure... but not quite sure what.

Thanks a lot!

Sounds familiar... I started Eb this year and the first piece I played on it, within the first month, was of course, Shosty 6. I've learned just to blow really hard, and hope the notes will squeek themselves out! : )

You're likely tightening. Don't "make" the notes come out. "Let" them come out.

I know some people who play "pucker face," and the problem is compounded on Eb, an instrument that magnifies every deficiency in your technique.
