I am in the market for a new professional clarinet. Several players have mentioned the Patricola clarinet as a very high quality instrument. I have talked with the family in person at the Mid-West Band Clinic this past December. I have to say I was very impressed. The problem is that I don't know anyone that has one.
With the instrument being made in Italy and not many stores carrying them in the U.S. does any one see this as a problem?

Tom,
Last I tried the Patricolas a year and a half (I've met the brothers, too - fine people) the Eb was sweet but the Bb and A weren't quite up to the same standards, especially IRT the tuning. They may have gotten that better. The woodwork and keywork was very nice.
Anythime you "buck the crowd" you're going to get some resistance. The Patricolas are recognized as a fine clarinet by many people, but you won't find a lot of players using them ... yet.

When I was looking for a new "A", I tried probably 15 instruments in Los Angeles. Buffets, Yamahas, and Patriculas. The Patricula was the only one that both sounded good and played in tune at the same time. However, I bought it from Charles Bay, who spent considerable time revising the instrument. Bay advertises Patricula, so you might try them. His re-worked clarinet cost more, but it was all value added and worth it.
