I have one, I believe it may also be called, Harrison-Hurtz, and also know of the old patent on it. It plays as well as the Bonades because their similarities in how they contact the reeds. I have heard that some cl'ists have had breakage problems, I have not, at least, yet. The inexpensive Luyben is well worth trying out, also. Don

I've had a Harrison ligature snap (right over the front of the reed where there is just the single thin piece of metal) - but another clarinetist I know has played one for years without a problem. I got as much life out of that ligature as I have out of any other (my bonade began to slip on my mouthpiece in even less time) so I still have a positive opinion on the ligature.

I use a Harrison lig on my 2RV and like it a lot. I tried it on my daughters new Pyne polycrystal with #3 VD and it worked quite well also. The biggest problem with the Harrison is over tightening. I've seen a couple break. When mine broke, I took it to a lady down the street who makes silver and gold jewelry for a hobby and she fixed it in about thirty minutes. Haven't had any problem since.

Harrison makes both gold and silver models. After trying both, I preferred the silver although I havn't the slightest idea why the difference in metals should make a difference. I like the ligs but am currently using Winslows. Good luck.

I switched from rovner to harrison on Bb clarinet. It seemed to work a little better for me. Unless the situation has changed I don't think they are being made anymore, so you'll have to find old stock. I also use one on Eb, and bass clarinet and tenor sax- I'm pleased with all, no breakage problems just some plating wear.
