It's tonight a Fischer Hall at 7:30 pm, with repeats tomorrow and Saturday at 8:00. http://www.lincolncenter.org/search/results.asp?session=CAF915E0-F825-4F3D-B591-E659893AF331&version=&ws=&bc=99&cboCompanyID=2&hdnSearchType=Company&hdnPageNumber=0&fh=1. Tonight is apparently sold out, or at least tickets are not available on the NY Phil. site. The other nights are available for $25 to (gulp) $90.

It's gotten a good bit of advance publicity. Apparently, it begins in total darkness, and the oboe soloist has to do a good bit of dancing as well as playing.

Ken ... I heard the Sydney premiere of this concerto ... amusingly billed as "a light-hearted" work composed for Diana ... this maybe so, but technically it is absolutely fiendish, however, as she probably one of the world's top oboists ... not a problem. It's exciting to think of her performing with one of the US's top orchestras.

Saw the concert tonight. Oboist played amazingly, though I was not completely impressed with the composition. It was repetetive and not terribly interesting. The dancing schtick was appealing at first, but the oboist had a limited vocabulary of movements that became tedious after a time. Mostly, I worried about her breaking her reed or the instrument. Overall, though, quite worthwhile - and she is a great musician, no doubt about it.

Philharmonic also played Sorcerer's Apprentice and Shaherazade (sp?) - Drucker played flawlessly, of course. Steve Hartman subbed at second and played great too.
