looking to upgrade questions (C13 ect..)

Hello~
I'm am a freshman in high school and am looking at upgrading my clarinet. (I just have a plastic vito currently.)

I'm looking at a used buffet C13 (international) and have a couple questions.

I notice that there is a comparingly differance in weight compared to an older evette of a friends...(the c13 being lighter.) What does this signify? I am curios to know if this means that the C13's wood is not as good as quality.

Also, realizing the C13 is made in Germany (not France); what kind of differance in quality does this make? Is it something I should be worrying about?

This particular C13 is in really good condition--new pads, no cracks, ect. (just been through the BrookMays shop) They are asking $500.00
What do you think of this price...does it sound very reasonable? I only have about that much to spend. Considering my situation does buying this clarinet sound like a smart step to take?

wow, all I know is that $500 is a good asking price. I have been having issues finding decent clars for under $1000. merely my opinon. sorry I can't help you with the rest.

At your age (freshman in HS), I think it'd be smart to look at used professional clarinets. Save up a little further and buy yourself a used pro clarinet. Probably would cost from 800 to 1000. Keep the Vito for marching band or outdoor situations.

One idea that I think was a pretty good one (put forward by another poster) was to bring the vito back and forth to school and use the GOOD clarinet at home, and in concert situations.

A good pro one will cost you more, but you'll also retain about the same retail value (as long as it's in working shape) so should you fall out of clarinetting when you leave high school, you can make your money back on it.
