Grad Schools for Performance Majors

Hello all,

I need to apply for grad schools in a few years and I was wondering if anyone could share his/her insights on schools/teachers in North America. So far I've been recommended to apply in the studios of following teachers.

Yehuda Gilad
Dan Gilbert
Jon Manasse
Ricardo Morales
Mark Nuccio
Burt Hara
Eli Eban

Can anyone recommend any good schools/teachers in Europe?

I'm in the same boat, except I am not really considering America or Canada - mainly because I have a European passport (dual citizenship) and can live/work in Europe without hassels. I've heard alot about Roger Salander in Vienna and Alois Brandhofer in Salzburg. Also worth considering is Barnaby Robson in London. He teaches at most of the major schools in London like Royal Academy and Royal College of Music and Guildhall.

In Cologne, Germany, there is an excellent clarinetist, (performer and clarinet teacher). David Smeyers, professor at the Hochschule in Cologne. He could give you some information, if you make contact with him. You can search for the colognehochschule and get in touch with him that way.

I would suggest Juilliard in the States and attempt to study with Morales or Nuccio.

By Dan Gilbert, do you mean Cleveland Orchestra? lol Not sure if there's more than one, but if it's him, he's a great guy. I actually had a side-by-side rehearsal with TCO on Saturday, and since I play 2nd on Debussy's Printemps, he was the one who assisted me. He's great, and really helpful, so I recommend him.
