 stretched lig

I haven't had this problem yet and at the moment i don't see how i could, but...I have a Pyne handwoven ligature that I am very happy with. I have read that a few people had problems with it stretching out beyond use. I would like to know if there is any way to prevent this from happeniong to to fix it once it has happened. If there was already post on this, I'm sorry that I couldn't find anything addresing this issue specifically.

Don't take this as advice, but I'm wondering if wetting the lig after it's stretched out would help (since string tends to shrink as it dries)

someone in a older thread did speculate about that too, i think taht would make sense, but the string is held together by glue, and i wonder if that would affect the glue. I also wonder if that would warp the pattern that the string is in right now.

If it's stretched out and doesn't do the job anyway, I don't see how it could hurt (what's it gonna do, make it go from not doing it's job to . . . not doing it's job more?!)

I'm not sure that there is nothing else in the lig.....i'm not saying you're wrong either...but never the less this thread isn't about that. My main focus is on any preventive measures to stop any stretching, though right now it seems no one else is having any problems with that other than a few people's posts that i've read.

Hi,

Why not ask Professor Pyne directly. He is on the music faculty at The Ohio State University and would probably welcome the inquiry as both an academic and as a merchant.

Check the university website for his email address or send him and email at his business.
