 Non-Clarinet Techie Question

Next to the stage name of each poster a "fragment" of an e-mail address (or URL) shows up.

It looks to be totally unrelated to the posters true e-mail (if he/she gives it on the page that shows up when you click on the name).

What is it? Whence cometh? To what purpose?

It's part of the IP address most likely of the poster. For identification purposes I assume every post to the forum is logged with the IP address of the computer it was made from so noone can pretend to be someone else.

Correct. It shows the "computer address" (not email address) of the computer being used.
