 Correct mouth & clarinet position?
Author: Joe

Hello,

This is another question relaated to my squeaking problem. Where can I find a very detailed description of the mouth position on the reed (ie how mush reed should be in your mouth etc), how much mouthpiece should be in my mouth and a description of the angle the clarinet should be at when playing? A few pictures (even cutaways) would be a great help. I just want to begin playing with the best position possible so I don't have to make corrections later as my lessons continue.

Any help or explanations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Joe

I suggest you buy the very good books [via Amazon.com and others] by Keith Stein and Jack Brymer,[with "clarinet" in the title]. Keith in particular deals with the problems you seem to have. Don

I agree with Don. Stein's book was superb for my needs.

Just keep in mind that the correct position and amount of mouthpiece you take in is different for everyone.
