Has anyone heard of Trebor clarinet?
Author: clarinetcadet59

I just purchased a wonderful vintage wooden clarinet on Ebay. Much to my surprise, it played beautifully right out of the case. I have been trying to find out anything on its maker, TREBOR, but I can't find anything, anywhere. Does anyone know anything about this clarinet or have ever heard of Trebor? Thanks so much.

Notice that Trebor is Robert backwards...there was a well known French company A. Robert that made excellent clarinets. It was later bought out by Loree. Just a thought.

Just a few more details...the item description said it was from the 50's .The serial number is II(or H..can't tell) 1889.It came in a leather case (with rain cover) also in excellent condition.I don't know if you can pull it up,since I have already purchased it,but it was ebay item number 3776284382.There are pictures on that page. I just recently (last year) returned to the clarinet after 29 years and am playing in my church orchestra.I had an Artley in high school that I played, then I switched to the french horn my last 2 years of school. Sold my clarinet after graduation and haven't played in 29 yrs till last year. I was surprised I could still remember how. I have a wooden Normandy 7 that I usually play(have no idea how old it is..got it from a friend who has a pawn shop) and a metal Holton Collegiate(from ebay) and now this Trebor. Thanks for any and all input.

Sounds like you've got a good start on the type of collection that we "recycled" players accumulate. "'Roh-bare" is a good old french name.
You'll probably soon gravitate to an R13......or ascend to it.

There was a very fine French maker named Triebert which continued to function into the 20th c., I believe.

All the pieces of the clarinet have Trebor marked on them. Would that be the same as Triebert ? The case has no markings on it . I have looked all over the internet and can't find Trebor anywhere. I'm just tickled that the clarinet plays and is in practically mint condition especially since it is over 50 yrs old. I'm also tickled at the price I paid...42.99 ! I just wish I had a little history on it.
