Does anyone out there know what the dab of sticky stuff used to hold Legere
reeds in place is called, and/or where you can get some?
I've cobbled myself a reed case and would like to have some of this stuff to hold reeds in position.

Do you mean the little dab of goo that holds the reed in place in the shipping container?
This may not help much, but I have seen the same stuf holding credit cards to their mailing inserts, and "extra" (glossy advertisement) pages stuck to the "regular" magazine pages.
The common thread appears to be plastic stuck to plastic (the magazine paper is heavily coated stock).
Maybe a stationery shop (Staples, etc.) or a Hobby&Craft Shop (Michaels, etc.) would know what it is and have some. Or a printer who does magazine work.
(Or, of course, the Legere people - they were good in answering my mail on other matters.)

More than likely it is a melt blend admixture of poly (styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) triblock copolymer and plasticising oils, but I know nothing about that subject

What about that white sticky puttyish stuff used to hang posters on the wall. There is one brand called U-hu.
Good luck!

that white sticky puttyish stuff ....also comes in blue. Look for it at Ace Hardware or Office Depot/Max. Company "DAP" makes it. But this is not what the poster is looking for....nor is GBK's ref. which seems to be a permanent adhesive

JOJ,
Are you thinking of using this for holding cane reeds ?
Not sure if this is a good idea. The usual method is to hold the reed surface absolutely flat on a plastic or glass surface. Adding even a small dab of this "goo" will raise the reed at one point on the surface and promote (or at least not deter) warpage of the reed in storage. Pressure could be put on the tip, or the tip will be held away from the flat surface.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like some of the suggestions may work. Right now I'm still trying different ways of holding the reeds (cane) in place. Probably will end up using glass or plexiglass plate. If I end up with something I really like I'll report back.
Thanks again!
John

You can buy "Glue Dots" at crafting/scrapbooking or office supply stores. They are pretty much the same stuff you find in the mailings or magazines.
