"The Hit Factory, the famed Manhattan recording studio that lived up to its name as the home of sessions by Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, U2, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand and hundreds of others, will close in the next month..."

Nola Studios (further east on 54th Street) is still alive for now - Charlie Parker, among many others, recorded there.
