Some interesting bits I came across. Some better than others but all interesting.

track at the bottom titled "mouthpieces"

:)

I was searching clarinet tracks on lycos and came across this modern music "gem"

Another really good piece (this one is actually a very good work). Sounds like Hindemith or Heiden.

That was great! Thanks for introducing me to the weird and wonderful world of Gebhard Ullmann! You can listen to more of his MP3s at www.gebhard-ullmann.com

Both tracks are ok. The first one is very similar to other things I heard but not as good as them. The second does remind Hindemit a little but I like Hindemit better.
The one right above 'Mouthpieces' is on bass clarinet and it's not bad, have some interesting sounds on it, and I like the player a lot too.

Yes, quite understandable that You, David, don´t apprecciate the "mouthpiece piece" - musical evolution just didn´t stop since those homogenic days of old. I loved the piece (th eperformer should just rewrite/replay that grooving part and drop it completely, and use some more colours, as he did before that), as can as easily be guessed, it reminds me of a part of a composition our ensemble did, and of course the "Xasax"- saxophone 4tett did a Xenakis that way, if my memory serves me right. "On mouthpiece alone" stands atop some of the scores I love to play, and it´s an usual extension of technique for us woowinds.
So I smiled as well, yes, but out of recognition.
Markus

Markus, I know contemporary music pretty well, but am selective what I like.

Some works I like a lot, some I think are trash.

Bergamo: Concerto Abbreviato - amazing piece and quite contemporary.

Nichifor: Carnyx - another very contemporary yet cool work.

So it's not that I don't like anything written past 1900, it's just that I am particular what I like.

If I don't like it, I won't perform it (on my own at least).

I'm going to just add a few links by editing this posting and not adding new posts to this thread. That way it won't keep bouncing back to the top of the headers:

WILD PIECE Concerto with Band

Here's Bob Spring playing Flight of the Bumblebee

or

I work with the record label Summit Records for promotion, and when I saw that this was streamed, I got up in arms thinking that it was somebody illegally posting it - nope, it's Spring's College of Music link :)

by the way - I don't work with any of the artists that I am linking to. Just discovered them by the lycos Mp3 search. (except the Summit Recording I just mentioned)

Start following these links and you never know where they will lead you. Some interesting stuff here (recordings near the bottom of the page):

(This is the second time in two days I haven't been able to make a link work with the <> characters. What am I doing wrong?)

Best regards,

some cool bass clarinet stuff there. There's even a Clarinet Choir with

Mozart's Bassoon Concerto played on Bass Cl.

AttetudesComplete is pretty wild.

Nothing. There's a buglet that causes the link to disappear then there's an internal ref (#) in the URL.
