 John Butler Performs Magic..

once again! Today my Selmer BT came home after John did his "magic" and boy does it look and play beautifully. Plating to pads and everything in between, my BT looks like it just came out of its 1937 showroom, absolutely amazing work. This is my third restoration with John and the work is (as usual) exquisite! John is a true professional as he's easy to talk with and does his very best to please his clients, I truly respect that. OK, there was one thing I asked him to do that I don't believe he has pulled off, what? My request was that he make me sound like Benny Goodman, guess his magic is limited to technical perfection as I still sound like me, oh my suffering neighbors! Thank you John, I shall return again and again..

Haha, that's the first thing to pop into my head as well... Wow, he's multitalented! He repairs clarinets as well? (For people not in the general area of Australia, the John Butler Trio are a very good music group who actually come from my city *grin* and while he's a brilliant guitarist, I don't think he plays clarinet...)

John has restored two Selmers and a Buffet of mine, all manufactured before 1950. He has an intelligent way of distributing cork and bladder pads, so that they are placed where most needed, not necessarily "cork on top, bladder on bottom," which is not the best solution.

His key buffing/restoration does make clarinets seem new! He is careful, thorough, and he completes his work in a very timely way.

Sounds like a change in secretaries - even so, if the work is what counts, why be concerned how he addresses his invoices? In my work more and more of my time is spent addressing envelopes and writing letters since I don't have access to secretarial services as does my boss, and it bugs me that I can't just do what I do best, saving people taxes. I'd take shortcuts too, if I could get away with it just to get on with what's more important.

Today my teacher heard me play the restored BT and she loves John Butler's skill, but I still don't sound anything like Goodman :) Although I do sound much better then I did! Thank you Mark for introducing John and the good Doctor to me, this is one great forum!

Brenda was responding to something I later deleted from my message (prior to hers).
