my friend (illustrator and artist Heike Prange) has been contracted to do the illustrations for a childrens book on the clarinet to be published by a German company. She is starting her research etc, and this includes looking for photos/artwork that is clarinet related.
it would be great if you could post your favourite websites that include clarinet photographs (and doesn't Woodwind.org have a gallery? i'll look for it in a minute....). A general web search will of course find lots of goodies, but how about some suggestions, favourites etc? Maybe there's something special hidden out there that you'd like to share?

Doubtless you children's book publisher will do so, but (my librarian wife reminds me) be sure to check for any copyright restrictions before you lift any pictures.

Excellent, GBK, had seen these sites before, have added [re-added] them to my favorite places for future pursuits. TKS. Good advice, John S, messing around with copyright infringement aint good . I recall a childs book, possibly by Leblanc ?, have/had a copy , will look in my "archives". Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Oh, yes, the booklet, by Boosey & Hawkes, their # 10545, two ISBN's, entitled "The Fun Factory CLARINET Book", by Katie Elliot {COPYRIGHT {C in circle}, 1997 by K E] [$7,50, list], [with Anthony Marks, Illus. by Ian Martin, also w" cprt] !! Quite a booklet, facts and figures, need more info ? Don

Attached are the pictures my sons (age 6 and 8) drew a while ago. Perhaps some of the 'authentic' art might enhance the book? Sorry if I missed the point(=if you're looking for photos of clarinet).

GBK,
Thanks for the GREAT website. Never seen such a huge collection of clarinet photos.
Don,
Thanks for the tip. I'm heading to amazon.com to see if I can order it.

Heike is an illustrator- she will be doing drawings and paintings. Another person writes the text, but they work together on planning the whole thing so both of them need to do lots of research. This includes visiting instrument/mouthpiece/reed makers and reading everything available etc
I was not actually asking for pictures to use in the book, although such artists often work from photographs (as an example, there is a painting of ME playing flute.... ok, trying to play flute.... in "Mein instrument- Die Querfloete". This was made from an old photo)
. This is Heikes 5th book for Barenreiter so i think she's worked out copyright issues etc, i was just asking for leads on any interesting photo galleries etc (ie, the tripple belled clarinet, contra bass clarinet on horseback, Donald Montanaro with mouthpieces on his fingers looking like claws etc)
thanks for suggestions, i'll look them up now and pass on any that are interesting
keep playing the good tunes
