Talented CUBAN Clarinet player needs advice!

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read this posting,

I am posting this for a very good friend of mine, who lives in Havana, Cuba. He is a young, and very talented clarinet player. He has been working for the National Symphony of Cuba and is presently the first clarinet player for the symphony, and did I mention the youngest in this field. Some consider him the best, if not one of the best on the island. He has had the opportunity at his young age to teach in the Dominican Republic and perform in several locations throughout Europe. He has been given the opportunity to possibly obtain a visa to come to the United States to study for a one-month leave.

I am posting this here because he has asked me to help him. I have known him and his family for about four years now. He is a very diligent musician and has much passion for his work and country (he has no desire to emigrate, only to study). Being that he is young (26 years old) and has reached very high musical standards in his own country, he wants to spread his musical aspirations and knowledge to a higher and more diverse level.

I am hoping that the musical/educational community in the Bay Area could help give us some guidance or suggestions on where we can go to seek …

Programs/ schools that he can study the clarinet through or any Symphony conductors/ directors and/or musical professionals that would be willing to take him under their wing. It would be best here in the SF Bay Area, so that he would have place(s) to live while studying.

This young man is seeking your help.

Any suggestions, advice, or guidance would be greatly appreciated, both by this incredible musician himself, Alden and his good friend, who cares very much about the positive pursuits of others.

Thank you for your time and your future help.

Might I suggest Scott Anderson (Clarinet) or David Milnes (Associate Professor) who can be reached at http://ls.berkeley.edu/dept/music/Milnes.html [right] or this page http://ls.berkeley.edu/dept/music/privateinstruction.html for other clarinetists in your area.

Take care,
