 Yamaha Reform-Boehm?
Author: Alphie

Does anybody play or have any experience of Yamaha Reform-Boehm clarinets? There are two models: A: YCL-846 and Bb: YCL-856. Any opinions and comparisons with Wuerlitzer, Leitner & Kraus and other makers are welcome.

my former teacher, Dr Dave Etheridge at the University of Oklahoma, plays one f these (not sure which model) and is very happy with them. He is a player renowned for having good tone (certainly within the realms of what one might call "sweet/bright American orchestral" tone, but that's subjective of course) and a very acomplished artist who is EXTREEMLY picky about his equipment.
i don't know what mouthpiece he uses (he has dozens of Chedeville/Kaspar etc mouthpieces), and i don't know how these instruments compare to the various handmade/european versions of the same thing.....
