I have an old gigliotti ligature. It is NOT the new model which has plastic screws, but the older model which has metal screws and a metal threads for it to screw into.
I accidentally overtightened (common enough with gigliotti ligatures I know), however instead of the screw snapping which is what would happen with the newer ones, a split occured right next to the unthreaded side, from top down halfway to the bottom (I wish I had a digital camera handy . . . . for a visual, think of what a crack in your clarinet might look like if it reached the tenon and went a little down the front)
I don't think pinning is an option on this ligature though. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to throw them at me. I'd like to save the ligature if I could.

Superglue?
Or a soldering iron to melt the plastic to seal up the crack.

Is the cracked part plastic or metal? ...not familiar with the G lig. Thermoplastics become brittle when they "dry out". Nylon will both expand and contract with changes in humidity.....moreso than many others.

The cracked part is plastic. Not chipped, just a long crack.
