 Clark W. Fobes Cicero mouthpiece

Has anyone tried these new mouthpieces ?
I saw them for sale in facings ranging from Cicero 11 to Cicero 14 but the openings, from what I could get from the vender, don't seem to match the original Kaspar openings.
For instance the Cicero13 is about 1.04.
I am curious to see what the opinions are on these are since I have'nt heard of them before.

You should email Clark and ask him for details. You can find his address on his website. http://www.clarkwfobes.com/ I tried one of these a while back (I don't recall which facing). It was very good. I think it is well worth trying. Clark puts a lot of care and work into the design of his mouthpieces and they are easily some of the best available today. Muncy Winds usually has a pretty good stock of his stuff. Good luck.

I have e-mailed him and he told me he does not sell direct anymore.
I thought I could get some impressions from some of you before dealing with the retailers.

Don't have experience with Fobes Cicero mouthpieces because the most open model is far too closed for me, but I have experience with his bass clarinet mouthpieces, and I think they are excellent. If you like the tip on the Cicero models then you should try them.

Kurt;

Correct, Clark no longer sells direct to he public. His mp's (and bbl's) are offered thru WWBW and Muncy Winds.

Yes, his tip opening for the Kaspar is different then the original...as is the facing.
I play a Fobes 'Chedville' CF+ on the new Zinner blank. Seemingly, this is his best selling mp as evidenced by the back orders with two aforementioned retailers.
I also play a San Fran Eefer mp and an ALto Sax mp he made for me.

I've had some in-depth convos with Clark. Rather than attempt to share the intricacies of the mp (kaspar or Chedville), there are differences other than the tip opening. It's based on a mold he designed and using what he feels is the best attributes of the original......then take it from there.

You may also want to try his bbls, Bb/A, Grenadilla/Rosewood.

I'm sure Clark would be more than happy to answer any concerns you may have. Give him a call (415) 585-0636.

regards
dennis
