I am working out all the different patterns of 16th notes in this piece, and there are two that I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on fingerings. One starts in measure 61 and goes clarion A then B to altissimo D# and back down to A. Is there an alternate fingering for the D# that is easier? The other pattern is slurred, clarion Ab, Bb to G and back to Ab starting in measure 254. This one works with the side key--I just need to get the wobbles out, but I don't know if anybody does something different.
Thanks much!

I would suggest playing the altissimo D#6 as an overblown (open) throat G# ...GBK

For the first pattern, try playing the D# with just the throat Ab key (no thumb or register key), which keeps you in the clarion register. You may have to add some fingers to get it in tune.
For the second pattern, try the trill fingering for Bb, which is the Ab fingering with the left index finger raised. An alternative would be to slide your left index finger down slightly to hold the pad cup down just below it and raise your left middle finger instead. A second alternative would be to at least try playing the Bb by adding the two bottom trill keys to the Ab fingering.
I don't have my clarinet with me, so I'm not sure how well these will work, but they're worth a try Let us know.

That's the ticket--thanks to both. Not sure why I didn't remember about that Ab-Bb trill fingering, though. It definitely is the way to get through several measures of that pattern

The Ab/Bb trill doesn't normally come up that often so most of us do tend to forget about it and don't happen to think of it for other types of fast passages. For slow passages, the tone quality is poor for many clarinets on the Bb created by lifting the first finger.
