Who's recording of this would you recommend?

Has Andrew Marriner done one?

Thanks Stu

Eh up Stu.

Michael Collins' contribution on EMI 'Virtuosi' is excellent.

I also have a nice example by Anthony Morf, and of course Sabine Meyer's is lovely.

As for AM, I hope he has...he plays it beautifully.

Paul Meyer's on "French Clarinet Art" is good.

I also have a recording of my own rendition from my recital a few years back! It's good for a laugh anyway....

Gervase De Peyer has three wonderful recordings of the Rhapsodie.

- 1987 - with piano (Gwenneth Pryor): Chandos label

- late 60s, early 70s - with New Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Boulez: Sony label

- 1964 - with London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rudolf Kempe: BBC Label

Franklin Cohen/Cleveland Orchestra/Pierre Boulez - This recording won a grammy.

Best recording I have heard of the Debussy.

My personnal favorites is :

Robert Guholz clar
Ernest Ansermet
Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

This is a 4CDset at eco price from Decca Debussy Orchestral works

This may not the most beautiful clarinet sound and quality of the sound but
what I like with this work is the way we hear so well the interaction between the clarinet and the orchestra and in particular the oboe. It add so much to beauty we get from the piece. In other recordings I have, it seems to me that the emphasis is put on the clarinet and we do not feel this beautiful interaction as well.
