I have been using Hite Premeire mouthpieces since I started playing ten years ago, and even though they have served me well, I want to get a better one. I am thinking of getting the Vandoren M13 or M15, or M30.
I have a few questions about the facings. According to WWBW, the Hite has a medium facing and the Ms have long facings. What difference does that make in sound and responsiveness? What does the tip opening dimension change?
Also, what are some general comments about them? Has anyone gone from a Premiere to a Mx, and how was it?

There is no "better" mouthpiece. There are some that are made better, but no two mouthpieces "off the shelf" will play the same--or better--even if they are made by the same maker or company. You simply have to play a lot of different makes and models to find the particular "one" that plays better for you--and then practice until you learn how to play it (paraphrase D Bonade). Welcome to the great mouthpiece search, and good luck!!!!

In my opinion William states the situation pretty well. That's why clarinet players collect so many mouthpieces.

While the M13 and M15 are closely related, the M30 is different.
If you are considering the M13-15, you might like the Hite Artist series in the H or D facing since you already use Hite.
In any case, be prepared for trying them with a lot of different reeds.

Do you suppose Pandora was actually looking for a mouthpiece?
