Just finished a recording of Christopher Rouse's clarinet concerto for BIS label with Martin Frost as a soloist. This is a very demanding piece written for Larry Combs (thanks GBK) in 2001. It's a nicely written piece and gives even the three clarinets in the orchestra a lot to play such as battles with the soloist as well as echos of very quick passages passing from one player to the other. We all had a nice experience during the session.
Never miss a chance to hear Martin play if you have one. He's not only the most technically talanted clarinet player I've ever heard, no exaggerations here, but he's also a brilliant musician, dancer, actor and mime artist, talants that he combines nicely in his concerts/"shows".
