 General Clarinet Question
Author: MarcAg
Date:   2005-01-13 21:49

I have a 1934 Buffet Crampon Bb clarinet I know pretty much nothing about clarinets. I was asked by someone if it is an R-13 clarinet? I don't even know what that means or how I figure out. Any help?

The clarinet is 23.5 inches long, not counting the mouthpiece. I dont know if that is relevant info.

The R13 was not developed until 1955. I don't know about those keys; I thought keys back then were nickle/silver. I think pure silver might be too soft. Anyways, this site might be of some insight:

Hope this helps!
