I have an offer to buy a LeBlanc Normandy older model wood clarinet, and a Conn Director model wood clarinet for $90 for both. The don't have cracks. Is this a good buy or just a waste of money?

Sounds like a reasonable price for 2 mediocre, old cls, IF they are restorable. Both might make intermediate wood cls for advancing students, worth perhaps $100-200 each. Repairs might be costly! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

They are not "pro" horns, if that's what you mean. They are student instruments. The Noblet is from LeBlanc. the Conn is from -- Conn!

If all they need is an overhaul, or if they are even playable go for it... you can never have to many spares, they would be quite usable as a clarinet for amatuers/ advancing students

But for the price of those clarinets plus the price of overhaul(s), you could probably do better. For instance, $45 for the Conn Director plus $125 for a cheap repad is $170. You can probably get a very nice Yamaha 34 in good condition for that price.

Fred you do have a point, and that is why I decided to not buy these clarinets. But, if anyone are interested in any of these clarinets, email me and I can get serial numbers and other information.

Good decision. You would have 2 very mediocre instruments even if they were in perfect working order.
The "wood wouldn't make them good". If they were in very good condition than it would have been a good buy, but the Clarinets still may not have been very good. The conn director model is a scary thought. The Normandy could have been ok.
I do doubt that you can find a Yamaha 34 in good condition for much under $350 minimum.
