I have an old Buffet Crampon clarinet I am trying to sell. I remember one time I took it to Brook Mays and they told me it was like from the 20s or 30s. I don't remember the actual year but I know there are websites that can tell you based on the serial number. So where do I find the serial number? I have looked on the clarinet but can't seem to find one.
Thanks

Look really, really, carefully, using a very bright light, on the back of the instrument just above the joints.
I have a 1926 Buffet, and the serial number is barely visible on the back of the top joint, just above the tenon (place where the top joins to the bottom). It is really hard to find.

I have seen several older Buffets that had the serial number stamped only on the lower joint, right next to where it connects with the bell. My 1911
Buffet in A is like that.

After I posted my message I went back and looked again and found it. It is from 1934.
