Is there a way to instruct Finale NotePad (Version 2005a) to NOT attempt to play the notes you are writing or working with?
I poked around in the Help and Options sections in my D/Led copy (thanks to all for the suggestion of the code) but couldn't spot a "Shut UP" option, or equvalent. The problem is that my (older) PC lacks sound hardware for MIDI (or any other) sound files, the program doesn't automatically recognize that my machine is deaf-mute, and actually locked up the system after a bit. I'm not in a position to go out any buy sound equipment for the PC.
Thanks (I realize this is not a programming forum, but I live in hope, anyway!)

Finale has an excellent forum. Your question is almost CERTAIN to be answered there:

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
