The January NAMM show (A very large convention of Music Manufacturers and Retailers) will be in Anaheim, California January 20 to 23.
Anyone going?
I am newly involved in a retail store. I went to the show last year and found it incredible. I'm looking forward to going again. It's a chance to talk to manufacturers and distributors of all sizes and types, and to examine instruments.

I go every year. Great show-you get to see and try everything there is in the world of music. And rub elbows with some of the world's great musicians. Good "after hours" special shows, too, if you know how to cadge a ticket or two.....

I was fortunate enough to play in last year's opening parade; it was a blast! The person marching in front was conducting with a red clarinet! A great show, and highly recommended for any musician.

I have been going for several years. My ticket comes from a store that sells my instruments, and it is the contact with other builders which means the most to me. But the most fun is in seeing all those obscure corners of musical endeavor, even though it all revolves about marketing, not my favorite part of the business.
You will really like NAMM if you are interested in how many variations there are on the Stratocaster, or want to get a drumhead autographed by the burned out drummer of a metal band. But you may also find you like the demonstrations of Finale, or the delegations from European and Asian countries, or the giant Hohner harmonicas, or the piano which uses partially filled Guiness bottles instead of strings.
have fun
