Take some lessons from your dog, 728! :)

Now, if you mean a "clarinet growl", just for fun, well, it's as simple as that. Just go 'rrrrrrr' while you're playin' and it'll come out as a "growl". I find that it's more effective in the middle and upper range but you can also get the effect in the lower register if you're persistent.

A Happy New Year to ya!

Some people can do this immediately......others can't. If you have trouble try this.... without the instrument....say grrrrr..as you are doing this put your hand in front of your mouth... there must be air flow....try to produce as much wind on your hand as possible. Keep doing this and then without interrupting the flow of air insert the clarinet into your mouth....finger a note like C below the staff not a high note. Some people can't make a grrrrr sound without the clarinet and these people might try a flutter tongue effect to replace the growl. In the flutter the tip of the tongue flaps very quickly prrrrr or trrrrrrrr....as opposed to grrrrr which is at the back of the throat..... Good luck

A very clear and concise description, John---and with both vocal modulation and flutter-tonguing addressed. Nice job!
