What's your take on Weber's Concertino?
Author: Bigno16

My All-State audition piece this year is Weber's "Concertino" and every time I hear the piece it's played differently. Andrew Marriner, Charles Neidich, Jon Manasse--everyone has their own take on how they think it should be played, most especially the different tempos.

I'd like to know what you people on the BBoard think about it. For example: What tempos do you like each section to be played?
As every version is different, how about alternate takes on articulation? What would be best or sound best?
Do you insert turns anywhere during the "Adagio ma non troppo" section?
Any tips on mastering the 6/8 section? I have such difficult with it and fall apart.

Anything like the above would be most helpful as I'd love to hear different interpretations on the piece and be able to shape "my own" style of playing it.

Read this thread for starters. Ken Shaw's "master class" will give you lots of ideas.

Oh, sorry about that GBK. I guess I gave up too easily when I searched for it. Thanks!

METRONOME...that's all I have to say about the 6/8 section (not to be confused with .75). Good luck! When I did states, the audition material was the Spohr concerto #1.

Why not make it your own? Tempo-wise, articulation-wise, turn-wise.
