 "De Lovely" and the Clarinet

My wife brought home a movie rental of "De Lovely":

http://www.delovelymovie.com/

The movie/musical chronicles the life of Cole Porter. Penetrating a sensational soundtrack was the ever present sound of the clarinet. 'Highly recommend folks catch up with this flick and its soundtrack (Krall, Cole, Costello, et al).

The pendulum has certainly swung since Cole Porter's time... 'begging New Year's predictions of when we'll witness a revival of prominence for the clarinet in popular music.

It's just a matter of time...

Coincidentally, I just re-watched My Dog Skip (a wonderful movie) on tv tonight and there are some beautiful clarinet parts in the score.
