I just obtained a B flat Pruefer Clarinet SN # 21976 (believed 1948-1949) in Leather case complete and in good condition, although it needs some new pads. -MFR- Prov. RI. Good tone, warm and rich. Looks wooden but I can't tell. Is there any way that I can tell by just looking at it? Did Pruefer make plastic clarinets too? Any idea of value? I'd appreciate any information on my clarinet. TIA, Renee

I have a PR of that vintage. Will look it over and see if I can answer your questions. Don

I believe my Pr is much older, ser 2601, and judging by condition, key structure and that it is single body [UJ & LJ] and Full Boehm [B] except for the low Eb, I guess it is 1910-30 like my other 3 F B's. Perhaps Mark can look up [or refer you to a post] about Pruefer. Mark, if you are into Langwill, please look up for me P Pupeschi, 1880-1920? Italy and any patents he may have had! TKS, Don
