Hi - I am new to the board & would like to borrow some of your knowledge - my daughter has a circa 1940 wood evette & schaffer bass clarinet - the upper socket ring on the top tenon is missing. Does anyone know where to locate one or where we could have one made? Our local repairman says the bass is in really good shape but it needs this ring. Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!

Thanks Brenda & John B. for the fast response via email. I have emailed Eric & hope to have our little bass player smiling again real soon. Happy Holidays to all of you & your families!!

If I understand what you're talking about, you should definitely have that ring replaced before assembling and playing the instrument. Even putting a clarinet (bass or otherwise) together with a loose ring can lead to cracking.
