 Passing of Henry Princen
Author: Henry
Date:   2004-12-21 23:17

Hi all,

This is Eric Princen, the son of Dr. H.M. Princen. I wanted to let you all know that Henry passed on Sunday, Dec 19th at 10:56 pm from lung cancer. He was 67. He will be sorely missed. He really loved this board. He talked about it all the time. I'm sure he wrestled with quite a few of you on it on all kinds of topics. :-) He was an opinionated man, but also had a very deep and caring heart. It took some patience to really get to know him, but everyone who took the time to do so was treated to an amazing human being. The outpouring of support from his friends and collegues has been amazing. I wanted to take the time to inform any of you who knew him of his passing. He loved reading and posting here. It meant a lot to him.

As the owner of a web board based on whitewater, I understand how close these online communities can be. I posted an article about my father's passing on my site. http://www.boatertalk.com/article.php?id=238. My email address is eprincen@boatertalk.com if you wish to contact me. My step-mother Andrea is monitoring Henry's email address if you want to make any comments to her.

Thank you for providing my father with a place he was so passionate about. It added a lot of joy to his life.

Thank you and take care,

-Eric Princen

Hi Eric,

It was a pleasure to have posted with your father on this BB. He and I had several private email chats as well. He will be missed but not forgotten!

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

HRL

PS I just looked at your deeply moving message on your BB; a father could not ask for anything more loving and caring. The pictures were wonderful.

As I previously stated, Henry enjoyed the bulletin board and his many internet friends.

I will always remember him for his clever poetry (which made me even try harder to outdo him) and vast musical knowledge on many subjects.

It pleases me to know that the bulletin board brought him so much joy...GBK

Eric,
God bless you and yours during this hard time. My mother passed away this past Aug. 24th, and even though she was 82 and had been in poor health for many, many years (35), it is still hard to lose a parent. That holds doubly true for the Holiday season.

Your dad's presence on this board will be missed.
