 Sore throat after playing?

Ever wake up a day after the day that you played for a while (3 hours or more) and have a sore throat? That happened to me twice this week... Is it because of playing, or am I just imagining things?

Mary,

When I was in high school i used to have the same problem... sore throat after a good many hours of practice... turns out I was using my airstream to articulate, putting a lot of strain on the vocal cords and all sorts of not good things.... I fixed the problem in my first year of college and haven't woken up with a sore throat from playing since, and I do a lot of playing.

Now I'm not saying you have this problem, because I don't know you and I haven't heard you play. But perhaps the next time you are practicing pay a bit more attention to the way you are articulating and see if you are unconsciously stopping your air or using your air as the main aperatus to articulate... if so consult your private teacher.

good luck with the mid-state audition!!!

best wishes
bob
