I was wondering if anyone's ever played Robert Schumann's "Zwickau Symphony" ... have been listening to it a lot lately and wondering why it's never played. I've probably spelled the name wrong.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

I think you'll be pleased to know that you did not, in fact, spell the name incorrectly.
The Zwickau Symphony in G minor actually predates the rest of Schumann's other symphonies, having been left incomplete in 1832.
I actually did have the chance to conduct this with the local orchestra at one point. It's a charming piece, really. A glimpse into the beginnings of Schumann's shy world of symphonies.
Do take a look at the clarinet parts to these. They're bundles of fun to play.
