Hello,
I am new to the clarinet and need to find some free downloads to practice to show mom that I am serious. She will not buy me any books until she knows which ones would be best.I am learning the clarinet through Air Cadets.
Thank-you for any help,
Dydia

One thing you could try is the chiff & fipple website [put it into your search finction] It is actually for tin whistle players but has a long list of irish tunes that are tuneful and not to difficult to play. You can print them easily and I don't suppose the tin whistlers will mind. Other than that, if you are a churchgoer, you can't go wrong with playing from your hymn book , usually in easy keys and familiar to you.

Keep in mind that when beginning clarinet, pretty much ANY beginning music will do. Whether it be designed for clarinet or not. So you may want to do searches for any type of music. It doesn't even need to be for a Bb instrument unless you intend to play along with a CD or another player.
I just checked the music archives on www.woodwind.org, but I'm not sure what on there would be a good level for you. However if you want to check it out, there's a link there to music and it has a couple mirrors of websites with available charts and transcriptions. Although much of it might be a bit much for you right now, you can take a look and see what you might be playing in the future.
Good luck, and you chose a good instrument!

Church hymnals are great. Perhaps they could be found at a thrift store for a bit of youe allowance money. I've also had good luck with Christmas carols. They're simple and you probably know the tune, so you know if you've got it right. Just be carefull that you study the arrangement as some are written a bit different from the way you might have heard them before. My instructor has a series of familiar pieces with a beat or two different and has me sight read these to see if I'm really paying attention.
Also do a search for folk tunes, I found the Erie Canal Song, Taps, Amazing Grace, The Star Spangled Banner, and the like.

There's a link to 5 easy pieces right there ^... At least it says beginner, it might be a bit hard depending on how high you can hit... But click on the link, then click on one of the songs, and then click on gif/midi to actually view it.... Have a wonderful thanksgiving...
