Like many ideas, John, it appears to be a good one. But from a practical standpoint it seems to bothersome to me. A "skyhook" might be better!
Personally, I use my knee.....a "no-no" among some circles.

I should point out that Stephen Fox, a well-known sponsor of this BB and a very approachable fellow, also manufactures a brace mechanism that, when used with a neckstrap, apparently relieves the right hand from all weight-bearing responsibilities. Check his website at http://www.sfoxclarinets.com.

One has to MOVE while playing a clarinet, having clarinet so firmly in one place would be very uncomfortable.

One does not have to move. However, I personally appreciate at least a couple inches of leeway, which the pictured brace doesn't seem to comfortably allow.

Yes I've seen these - great idea but hilarious to look at. I wouldn't go on stage with one.

I wouldn't go to football games with one of those. I need to be able to freely swing my instrument around and make large scenes during stand tunes.
