I've started a wind quintet at school with some friends. We currently have pieces that are transcriptions for wind quintet from orchestral or concert band music and enjoy them. However, we want to expand our library of it and can't seem to find any more sites or places to order transcritptions or arrangements of music (not original stuff). We have some things by Grainger and Holst and also Gabriel Faure's "Pavane." Also, our version of "Barber of Seville" puts our Bb clarinet in the nasty key of F# so it's not working out well. I'd love especially to find some transcriptions of Holst's "The Planets" or Bernstein's "Candide Overture"--any of the standards for example.
Does anyone know of anywhere we could purchase some others?

Why the aversion from actual wind quintet literature?
No offense, but I think a wind quintet arrangement of The Planets would be horrid and quite difficult to pull off. Much of its effectiveness is in its orchestration.
In any case, best of luck to your quintet.

I heard an arrangement of the Dvorak American String Quartet for Wind 5tet. Was quite good.

Yes, I realize that "The Planets" would not be too effective without brass and percussion. I don't know, I probably should look for original wind quintet compositions as well. I'm just not familiar with any.

I would also encourage you to play original wind quintet music first. Things written with exactly that instrumentation in mind tend to be better music. But it also depends on who your audience will be and what your goals are.

Didn't see "Planets" or "Candide" in the catalog, but they have a good selection of serviceable transcriptions. They don't sell directly - look at their listing of "associates", who can order whatever you need.
