 More on the R13 Dilemma

I got a lot of feedback from people on what I should do about this "R13" I bought from the classified ad.

I did email him today about maybe getting my money back. I was correct on why the joints don't match up: One joint was damaged and had to be replaced. But I thought it was the bottom joint, when in fact, it was the top that was replaced. Which explains why it has the strange register vent that sticks out! My old guy clarinet buddy informed me that this type of vent was used on instruents from the 30s!

The guy I bought it from was very nice and probably had no intention of ripping me off. He had purchased it as a replacement to a horn that he had stolen from a professional in Canada who told him the instrument was fine, but had the top joint replaced. He said he just used the money to pay his rent, but would work something out to get the money back to refund me. :)

Thanks for all that replied. Hopefully this will all work out in the end.

I hope you mean he bought the clarinet from the professional in Canada :)

Anyways, nice to hear things worked out in the end

Contragirl, before you get rid of the clarinet, check that the strange register vent is not Abe Galper's invention which makes the Bb sound better and improves the going "across the break".

I understand what you mean, but this sentence can sound pretty bad too :)

Anyway, make sure you do get your money back and that he didn't just say he would get it back and then never hear from him again.

Good luck.

LOL! I was editing the sentence and rearranged the words incorrectly! haha

no, he bought it from the professional in Canada... since his other had been stolen by some unkown assailant.

:)
