My little brother was watching TV the other night, and I happened to be in the room. A clarinet solo came onto the TV, and after demanding that I teach him to play it, he said "that doesn't sound like you, you play mostly the lower, dark-sounding notes." Seeing as I play notes across pretty much the whole range of the clarinet when I practice, it's good to know that he thinks my high-and-middle notes sound like low notes.
Anyway, there wasn't really much reason for this post- I was just rather pleased with myself.

Rachel ... I'd have currawonged him just in case he was been a smart alec (currawonging someone is smacking them over the back of the head with your hand-vernacular aussie at its worst).
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Or pulled an "El-Kabong" and hit him over the head with your musical instrument (I guess clarinet will have to substitute instead of guitar).

No, he was being serious. My brother is so much like me that it's scary, so I can usually tell what he's thinking.
I am sounding pretty good at the moment...I just found an absolutely beautiful reed- nice dark sound, excellent response across my entire range- lying around on my bedroom floor.
Oh, and just to have a little dig at the Buffet mafia and the Vandoren mafia- this is being achieved on a YAMAHA clarinet. And an INTERMEDIATE Yamaha clarinet, at that. With Rico (Evolution) reeds.
