 Artie and Paquito
Author: William

I read in my morning Wisconsin State Journal that Paquito D'Rivera and Artie Shaw are two of seven (living) aritsts who have been named National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Masters. They will recieve their awards on Jan 7 in a Long Beach, California ceremony and concert. The other's named are, Kenny Burrell, Slide Hampton, Shirley Horn, Jimmy Smith and George Wein.

Congrats, expecially to our fellow clarinetist recipients, but also to the rest as well!!! A lifetime achievement honor well deserved.

I've had the great opportunity to listen to Paquito D'Rivera live. And man does he deserve it.

Kudos to him and Artie!
