I have an old ( how old I don't know-
I played it years ago and it was old then) Clarinet.
It needs new pads and to be cleaned really well.
If this is in good condition how much can I sell it for ?

If you still play, please consider keeping this instrument as your back-up clarinet, unless there's something you really don't like about it. It's one of the better "step-up" student models. I recently bought a Selmer Signet "Special" (probably dating from the early 1980s) for only $35 at a yard sale. The seller, the original owner, had probably found out the same thing I did when I looked into the market for older, used "step-up" student models: They're not worth much. Stores that deal in used instruments aren't very interested in them, because there's not much demand, compared to the big demand for beginner instruments and the steady need for high-level pro clarinets. There are a lot of step-up models lying around available, since so many people either quit or move up to a professional quality clarinet.
IMHO, the playing value of these Signet Special clarinets is higher than the dollar value. I don't think you could find a new back-up clarinet of equal quality for the small amount of money you'd get from selling the Signet Special. I'd read some negative things about this type of clarinet, but when I started playing mine, I got a pleasant surprise. It's much better than I expected, so much so that I'm now using it as my everyday practice instrument, to save wear and tear on my favorite, a 1937 professional Buffet.

If you were to shop for a used intermediate Clarinet in good condition, you might expect to pay around $250 at a Music Store or around $125 at a Pawn Shop. I think $250 would be a good starting price to ask for yours. A new plastic instrument like Vito or Bundy, would cost more than this.

Fred,
If you get around where I live you'd expect to pay $300for a used plastic clarinet and well over $1000 for a used intermediate at the music stores.
