I've only been playing for a short time and teaching myself. I am trying to find classical music that is in the lower and up register and in the key of C, F or Bflat. I am using Rubank elementary method book and want to be able to sit down and play a long song.
Please help.
Thanks.

Rubank is a great method book, but doesn't have much fun to play stuff, especially at the lowel levels. You might look for another method book with more interesting material to suppliment Rubank. Also Rubank publishes other material in collections at various levels. Many other publishers offer graded material at lower levels as well.
You can buy vocal sheet music and play the melody line as long as you are playing alone, or with other clarinets. (If you don't know why, search this board for "transposing.")
Hopefully you live near a decent music store, on-line shopping is great, but there is nothing like browsing through the racks.
Consider working with a teacher if at all possible to avoid developing bad habits.

Look at the ABRSM website http://www.abrsm.org.uk for the UK music exams. This lists suitable pieces at eight levels from beginner to conservatoire-entrance. Some of them are from collections of pieces, so buy the collection and there'll be other good stuff in there too.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.
To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

The Galper Method Book #1 has the whole first section dedicated to the lower register. His studies are used in the first Canadian RCM exam that doesn't reach into the clarion register at all. Of course the key of C will take you into the clarion register, but one octave of the keys of F, G, A and Bb will not. This section of his book contains several good pieces that are quite acceptable to play for friends and family (they're challenging enough for the beginner to be on the exam). The second half of this book reaches into the second register with exercises to help you get there, and these short studies are used in the second RCM exam, each of these studies being fairly musical on their own. So this may be helpful.
There are 20 other tunes in the Grade 1 RCM repertoire that stay only in the chalumeau register such as some selections from "First Pieces for B flat Clarinet, book 1" published by Oxford University Press. Another 20 choices in the Grade 2 repertoire extend into the clarion register but still aren't too hard but challenging in their own right. Among them are the Carol from the Finzi Bagatelles, selections from "Famous Clarinet Favourites" arr.by Hugh M. Stuart, some of the "Clarinet Solos, Easy Level" published by Rubank, and so forth.
This could get you started, as there are other sources out there.

As I recall, the "older" book[let], Clarinet Sessions, has some simple to moderatly difficult song/exercises. It may still be available in music stores and on-line. Luck, Don

Rubank also publishes a volume of fairly easy solos.

Tunes for Clarinet Technic (Warner Bros/Belwin) Book 1 has a lot of songs in it aimed at beginners. It is a book of nothing but short songs. Several similar books have also popped up in the last few years.
