Key plating on a nice day
Author: Tom A

Good morning all, it's a beautiful sunny Monday and I'm ready for work. Can you guess where I am?

Now, a late 1960s Leblanc LL has what type of key plating? I'm familiar with the look of nickel vs silver, but this seems to be in-between, perhaps because of tarnishing and pitting.

Cheers and enjoy what's left of the weekend!

"Can you guess where I am?"

I'm guessing on the other side of the international dateline; e.g., China?

i can do one better- it's a Monday, and i've spent the day surfing (was in the water by 7.30am), now i'm going to practise the Fasch concerto on Chalemaux and learn another movement from "Cinco Bochetos" (Sierra) because.....
today is a public holiday!
can you guess where i am?

OK, I'm in Sydney and now I'm grumpy because it's Monday afternoon. [down]

Kia ora, Donald. If not for the absence of warm weather there I'd become a New Zealander ASAP.

The real question was the one about plating on a Leblanc LL. Any takers?

Perhaps it is unplated, i.e. the basic "nickel silver" alloy (containing no silver), similar to what 'silver' coins are made from.

We're having a beautiful day in NZ tomorrow. Such a shame that you divert so much of the variable weather in our direction. :-)

i'm pretty glad to get those storms and low pressure systems (=bad weather) off the Tasman sea (=the direction of Australia)...... all that nice ground-swell out west is one of the best things about living in Auckland.
