Hey everyone!
Um i was just wondering if there is any reason my 'one and one' fingering high Bb doesnt like to work. I just need to know cause im doin a clarinet exam this weekend and my Bb major and Bb minor arpeggios would be heaps cleaner without having to revert to other fingering...
Thanks a bunch

bridge key bent, or cork missing from bridge.
is the pad on the upper joint closing when you try 1&1?
finger 1&1 and press the pad with your middle finger, if it moves down, its not sealing. usually the problem is in the bridge.

I had exactly the same problem a month or two ago (and posted here for advice too).
To my surprise, it WAS the bridge which had got a tiny bit bent - it had looked perfectly OK to me! The technician in the shop fixed it in a couple of minutes, and the long Eb/Bb is now absolutely fine.

Yes, the 1 and 1 depends upon the coordinated seating of 2 "front" pads, so if either of those 2 has been replaced [or as pointed out, bridge key alignment {corking/bending} is needed] its among the minor repairs, at least to me. As Hank "asked above" mechanical analysis is a good skill to have some of. Don

What a good post!!
I always had problem with this fingering!
But found out that 3 out of my 4 clarinet had this very problem after reading this post!
I fix all of them by myself ( I had seen a technician do it before but never understand the mechanics) starting with the cheapest clarinet ( I do not suggest though that people should do it by themselves, but I just can't resist myself!).
Now this fingering is not a problem anymore!
Thanks
Marc

Sometimes the felt/cork (top joint) is missing on the bridge key causing the gap. Valentino makes stick on felt bumpers.
