Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for me.
I'm doing my graduation recital in march and so far am doing Brahms sonata #2, the Mozart concerto, William O. Smith unaccompanied pieces and a trio for cl, ob, fl and piano. My teacher says I need something else to play, something light...does anyone have any ideas for me?
Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I'd suggest Krenek's Suite for Clarinet and Piano. It is a pleasing four movement suite - not incredibly difficult for either instrument, but challenging to properly phrase. There is also a Krenek "Monologue" for Clarinet Solo. Hope your recital goes splendidly. E. Thomas

if your just looking for something shortish and enjoyable for the audience have a look at Peregi Verbunk by Weiner, its hard and it makes a great audience pleaser

Thanks, I was just looking at the Krenek suite yesterday and thought it looked pretty neat!

Play what you have already programed well, and you don't need anything else. But...., there is always the Fantasy Italien by Bozza or the Scherzo by Cardew--both not too difficult and fun to listen to and play. Vaughn Williams also wrote a suite of songs for clarinet and piano (not sure about the title) that are easy but very musically challenging and beautiful. Good luck on your recital.

Well, if you're looking for a short piece or two, you should consider Ravel's Piece en forme de Habanera. I did that one on my Junior Recital so it's not too difficult. And also there's Debussy's Petite Piece. I did that one on my Senior Recital--also not too difficult.
Anyway, good luck.
