 Broadway loses Fred Ebb
Author: John J. Moses

I worked with Fred Ebb and his collaborator, John Kander on several Broadway shows. "THE RINK" in 1984 featured Liza Minelli, Chita Rivera, and the then unknown Jason Alexander. Fred helped us all so much with the importance of music AND words. His words were profound and moving.

Yesterday morning, on Broadway & 42nd Street, we played "New York, New York," one of Fred's great tunes. About 20,000 fans applauded his words about our great City. We didn't know at the time of Fred's passing, but the "Broadway on Broadway" concert proved to be a loving tribute to a great man.

He will be missed!

There was an artical about Fred's passing in our Wisconsin State Journal this morning. His words and talent will be missed "out here" as well.
