 Noble clarinet
Author: John Baker

Can anyone help me identify a Noble, not Noblet! clarinet. To my untrained eye, I am not a clarinetist, it appears to be a clunky version of a Noblet. It says it was made in Paris and appears to be good wood but with some very large set screws in the key mechanisms. Thanks, John.

I've never heard of "Noble" , just NobleT also. Conn, back in the '40-60 s employed very-small set screws , in their Director cls, dont know of others tho. Don

Perhaps the guy who stamped the letters on had a good time the night before.

I recently got the same thing. The bell logo is a sketch of the Eiffel Tower with a script Noble superimposed, right? Any info on pedigree?

I have that clarinet. On the bell is the Eiffel tower figure with the word "Noble" overstamped on it. On both UJ/LJ is stamped "Made in Italy" and the s/n 54. The keywork seems to be German Silver that was tarnished, but cleaned up nicely. To my mind, this resembles a mid-level Selmer. I'm guessing vintage in the late '50s, early '60s.

I have that clarinet. It has the logo as described. On both the upper and lower joints, however, are stamped the words "Made in Italy" and the s/n: 54. The keywork seems to be German silver. It was tarnished the usual dull gray, but cleaned up nicely. To me it resembles a mid-level Selmer. Its vintage feels like late '50s or early '60s.

I have an E flat Noble (Not Noblet) clarinet and it plays very nicely. The intonation is very even and better than some new E flats I have played.
